T4 - T5 CAMPERVANNER
For your viewing pleasure, this month:
Boaby's T5
Recently joined your club, we have a 2005 stone blue T5 lwb van converted into a 2 berth camper, its a 1.9 with a modest 102bhp, with only 34k on the clock, started life with an old folks home in Clydebank and was sold via Lex leasing at auction in Manchester last october.
We had it converted at Leisuredrive Bolton and collected it in January this year, we have only used it for days out due to the weather, however we are going back out touring in it shortly once more.
My wife is from Rothesay on Bute,we go back a couple of times each year to visit my mother-in-law .
The van as you can see is a T5 lwb, 5 speed manual with a 102bhp engine, only 34k clocked, we haven't added anything to it, engine or wheel wise. if was fitted out to a 2 berth single bed or double and has front swivel seats.Propex blown hot/cold air system, large fridge, double gas hobs and grill/oven.
With the added luxury of 240/12volt split charging system with 2nd battery, full Thetford flush W.c in the back cabinet, onboard water/waste tanks and plenty of storage space.
It is a Leisuredrive convertion from Bolton.
We will be using the camper for 2/3nights away and maybe have a couple of breaks in travelodges inbetween, with have semi retired from full time work, as my fitness to drive HGV and other maintenance work is very restricted.
We started our camper life of in the seventies with a 1965 tin top 6 volt splitty, original Devon rosewood inside and push out front windows, replaced it with a 1967 12 volt Devon with elevating roof.
The following campers were purchased up till 2000, a 1972 Bedford C.F Devon .1974 VWLT 28 Autostrada. 1972 L.H.D Baytwo devon.1971 baytwo devon, some were stripped out and rebuilt using donor vehicles.relocated down to Yorkshire in a caravan, stayed in that for 10 weeks , purchased a property, sold it and now have the 2005 T5 we intend to add to it as time goes by.
wild camping,
Area we like to wild-camp in are on the Isle of Bute where we used to live, it has many areas for doing so on it's numerous sandy beaches, also campeltown, and Tarbert, we have wild camped along the west coast from Glenluce bay near Stranaer, right up to Ullapool, however haven't been up there for a few years so things may have changed, we have never wild camped in anything bigger than a VW, and are duly looking forward to the coming season in our new T5
Inside this wonderful T5 is an amazing tardis like interior
