ok so now the cold has really started to move in down here i decided time to start using the bus heating.

Ha ha well thats what i thought it would appear something is broken within the actual control unit ive taken it apart and can see that when i turn the heating temp dial the metal arm connected to the wire doesnt move the other 2 are ok its just the temp dial. typicaly its all one unit so i need to replace the whole thing gr yet another damn thing ive found that i either wasnt told about or the last owner bodged

so can anyone help does anyone have one lying around for a 2.5tdi x reg
or can anyone give /supply me with a part number so i can try find one

you can move it manually in the engine bay though to get the heat through cant you.

also have you checked that its not just a slipping cable.

at the back of the dial you have a metal L shaped arm that the cable that runs to the heater matrix is conected to this slots into a groove on the back of the dial and moves when you turn the dial the dial is just turning and the arm not moving.

it looks like either something has snapped of the back of the dial or there is a rubber gromet missing off the metal arm so as a temp fix ive removed the dash cover and manualy moved the arm so it blows warm air all the time instead of cold untill i find a replacement.

the mk4 golf one looks the same but part number would help

7D 181 9045L. This should be the three dial switch for 1999> heater control.

Hi guys,

I also have a problem with my heating! I have an '05 T5 1.9tdi, and I am getting no air at all coming through on 3 of the 4 dash vents when the dial is on face only. On one of the dash vents I get very slight air but does not feel as much as it should.

When the dial is on feet, or feet and windscreen, or just windscreen, the heating works perfectly, but just not on the face pointing dash vents.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andy.
