Unpainted bumpers

What do you guy's use to try and keep the bumpers looking black? I've used several different makes of 'back to black' sprays but none of them seem to keep the bumpers looking good for long, they always go back to grey.

Hi Earthman. Simoniz bumper black works. Gave mine a good scrub with one of those kitchen scourers to get the crud off. When dry apply a good thick coat with the sponge side and just leave it. Still looking good after a couple of months. The sprays seem to be too thin, this stuff is thick and black but does not rub off. Brings them up like new. I've sat on my back bumper and had no problems.

Thanks for that, I don't think I've seen that product in the shops, it comes with a sponge side??? I've only ever found the spray can type.

Hello Earthman, I use Turtlewax Black in a Flash. Tried it before we went to France for 4 months and the bumpers, door mirrors look fine. Stew

AUTOGLYM the trades fav why coz its the best not cheap but darn good

Not tried the black but the polish, car wash and leather cleaner are all top notch. Wouldn't use anything else.

I agree Autoglym is the best wash, & wax etc. but not tried their bumper stuff. Stew

I used to be in the motor trade some of you will know this so i wont bore you, suffice to say Rolls Royce, Porshe and Mercedes along with Maybach and Ferrari recommend AUTOGLYM products for a reason. The problem with all back to black type products is that they are a top coat applied to a rough surface which water will sit on, after which the suns rays effect it is not like a polish which when dry leaves a film that is inpenatrable it is also covering a BLACK surface more prone to blooming [going white] but the ones quoted are most probably the bets you can get. Failing all that try black she polish lightly buffed will give you a waterproof black surface so so long, a great one if you are selling and want it to look its best, see now im giving away trade secrets

I've recently given my bumpers, mirrors, and grill a going over with the Simoniz stuff (after Chas' recommendation), and they have come up like knew. Who needs colour coding?!

Believe me it works my friend, this method is often when in the car trade to tidy a scuffed bumper quickly 
It can be bought from £1 shops cheaply and lasts as long as anything else does.
I used it on my [VANS] eyebrows as it was the only black part on her and it worked well, covered all the scratch marks from being rubbed down [as they were white and the paint white propr to flaking badly, in the end all was sanded off, for a cleaner satin black finish, off which the shoe polish made far sharper
