hi there i have a 96 t4 in white the passenger side wing has had a big knock at some point if you look under the bonnet below the battery it looks like you might get to it to push it out. is this easy? i have seen that you can get a replacement but i'm pretty sure it's the weld on kind is it judt as easy to replace? any ideas? cheers
If its the weld on type then youd be better of getting a bodyshop to do it but I very much doubt it is though.
The guys will be able to put you straight soon.
They normally bolt on behind the light & up inside the wheel arch & along the top of the wing under the scuttle panel (of which these dont have) Dont get the bolts confused with the front slam panel as that holds the front end together.
Hi Crabby. If you can see the back of the dent then it should be easy to lessen it but unless it pops straight out then there will still be work needed. Try gentle jacking using something to protect the wing. try not to use hammers as this usually makes more work unless you are very skilled. Removal would be the best option as it's only a small panel and would provide the best results.
Echo whats is said above taking it off even new wings are not that expensive to get and almost certainly bolt on try www.vatcat.com it should give you an exploded view of the part and where it is mounted which should help you, if nothing else you will be able to source the exact part nos which is a bonus if buying new from VW at least
