yup thats right this twat i got the van from has completly bodged it
my clutch cylinder broke today so i thought i will have a look and see whats what well i wish i hadnt
the reason for it breaking is due to the fact the mounting point thats part of the plate/pedal assembly that bolts to the bulkhead has broken (how is beyond me)
so what he has done is bolt an L bracket onto the cylinder then drilled a new hole and mounted the cylinder there instead. what it appears this has done is hold the cylinder at the wrong angle resulting in to much pressure in the wrong direction resulting in the top of the cylinder bar breaking off.
the only way i can see to fix this is get a new pedal assembly remove the old fit the new then replace the clutch cylinder .
To say im not a happy man at the moment is an understatement
so if anyone is scrapping a 2.5 tdi bus ajt engine (although i should imagine the pedal housing would be the same in other models) let me know as i now cant drive at all untill its resolved
a very narked me

Self same issue i had on mine, at least the pedal box had been welded but within a day of having the van the master cylinder started leaking fluid obviously where the box was broken and still being used putting stress on the cylinder.
oh and it was a mickey mouse one compared to the genuine VW one i have on there now..
people who bodge stuff really annoy me...

go for the k&n
only dont buy from tidyt's thay sent me a pipe that dont fit & i ended up going to burtans & buying a samco pipe & clips that do fit.
if you unbolt the sensor from the filter & measure the od of the tube & then buy 1x 90 dgree bend 2x clamps & 1x cone filter = job done
best mod = exhaust = more revs as long as its a decat
