Thanks. I'm Glad that you like it too. I have a few little jobs to do on it to start with the will consider looking at a few Mods perhaps. Plenty of Black Polish I think too.

Depends what company your with but the A-bar shouldnt make any difference with ANY company and the alloys should be fine also so long as you tell them... We repeat HIC is without doubt the best in this field as they allow you to build it up whilst being fuilly insured rather than having to tell them and face excesses every little mod you make ...

Wow!!!!!!!! I have my T4 2.5TDI insured with Direct Line as they were the cheapest by far when I searched for quotes. I have just informed them that we have transferred our private number plate onto the T4 which was no problem. Out of curiosity I asked them could I fit Alloy Wheels and maybe an 'A' Bar to my T4. They quoted £277.85 extra to insure it if I fit Alloys and no chance of getting insurance if I fit an 'A' Bar. Looks like the standard steel wheels will do nicely then. Glad I asked and didn't just buy and fit Alloys and an A Bar without telling them.

Still think yopu would of been better with HIC or Adrian Flux buddy as they are well known for insuring whist in mod if you see what i mean thus allowing any mods with-in reason to be carried out fully insured and generally WAY CHEAPER than anywhere else one of your problems is it is a caravelle depends how many seats it has what it comes up as - often you are close to psv with these thus the loading [not saying that is the case here btw just a comment from facts we already know] some seem to be cars some minibuses depends on the companies really not everything with insuranc ecompanies is down to price its more what your getting for that price sadly.... Take my fully modded custom camper [my previous one] and my current motorhome the difference in overall insurance costs are neglegable but both VERY different beasts, different values, ages, mileages, and extras but made i think £30 of a difference yet its value is GAURENTTED at £14k which is one of the main reasons for going to a specialist company in the first place they know the vehicles, they know the scene and they know the values.... At the end of they day they insured it from purchase as a standard 1.9td van as a fully fitted pop top camper thus allowing me to get it converted as long as i didnt go over what i stated the real costs come when you start fitting ecu tweaks, go faster bits and such like usually As i always say it pays to shop around ......... i would far rather be paying possibly a slightly higher premium to know i am properly covered in the event of the worst happening they know what i have both on and in my van it is detailed on my prospectus plus they have gaurtenteed a value couldnt get much better fully comp all risks with breakdown cover at about the same as yours ????? btw if i wished to fit non standard alloys, a-bars or side bars etc i would have nothing further to pay

Direct Lines quote was around half the price of Adrian Flux which surprised me because I used Adrain Flux for my 4x4s in the past and they were very competitive. 2003 Caravelle 2.5TDI 9 seater, fully comp with 7 years no claims cost me £567 with direct Line. I only have 6 seats fitted at the moment to make an even larger load area for the wife to fill when she goes shopping

When I sold my Caddy the guy who bought it had a devils own job insuring it with the alloys on, they wanted a similar figure Jedi. As Dougie says, HIC were happy to insure my van with ongoing mods for 300 fully comp. My Caravelle was a similar price but with a different company but that will be staying standard. I did use Direct Line for a long time but watch them escalate the price after the first year. Pays to call them and negotiate downwards, works most times.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I might be changing insurers next time if Direct Line bump up their prices. I have used Adrian Flux for my 4x4 in the past and they don't mind you doing modifications but their quote for the T4 was @ £ 1100 so almost double what i paid with direct Line. One company told me that there wouldn't be much difference between insuring a 6 seater T4 and a 9 seater T4 but their quotes were over £900.

I dont beleive that the 6 seater is a car the 9 seater effectively a psv ??? so they are talking as most insurance companies do through their heads sadly - At least you will be for warned for next year ..... Just out of interest how does the Caravelle compare to your T4 Van ?? and is it insured with the same company .....

The T4 1.9 is around the same price as the T4 2.5TDI. That T4 is insured in my fathers name with myseklf as a named driver but is classed as a modified van. It has been fitted with a wheelchair ramp and winch and also a track for wheelchair clamps by the previous owners who used to transport disabled children in it. It has two seats in the front and two seats in the rear with room for two wheelchairs. Lots of insurance companies would not insure it due to the modifications or would charge silly money. Direct line were the cheapest again by far and he has been with them for years.

Em interesting noted and will be added to the insurance section in due course most will never have to face this type of insurance but handy information to know incase as many Caravelles were built as new to transport disabled persons about and continue to be used in this manner today ........ Strange how two very different vehicles can cost roughly the same to insure though, obviously its a hard one to gauge as everyones details, postcodes, values and past history vary so much but even all that taken into consideration its still quite a inomily dont you think ?

Morning. We don't use the modified T4 van for carrying disabled people around any more since mother passed away in 2005. We have thought about removing the ramp and winch and wheelchair tracks and turning it into a six seater or even a camper. The van is just so handy as it is though with the rear ramp for carrying tools, wheelbarrows, pushbikes, motorbikes and even a quad. We might fit a double passenger seat in the front and remove the rear seats. There are so many options available with the T4.
