Front Bumper advice for a 2003 Long Nosed T4

Morning.

Eventually I will need to replace my front bumper on my 2003 Long Nose T4.

It has a crack and a piece missing from the Offside Corner. Nothing dangerous, just cosmetic really.

I have seen reasonably priced Front Bumpers on the *BAY website but I'm not sure which ones will fit and I would hate to buy the wrong one.

Is there a difference between the bumper on a short nosed T4 and the long Nosed T4?.

One seller asked me for the part number of my T4 bumper so that he could check if his Brand new Bumper would fit my T4.

Thank You

Not sure buddy im sure Rob will know shortly when he reads this though and have the answer for you my guess would be they are NOT different though as most front end parts are although the parts that are are to accomodate a bigger engine, i would assume and hope that anyone selling on e-bay would at least know where their mechandise came from wouldn't you ?? certainly no specialist your dealing with there buddy ..... [i was recently doing an ad feature for RS Bodywork for a rear T4 bumper and i dont remember any differences in them for any age ??? but dont quote me]

Unless the damage is really severe a doze of plastic weld would probably repair it nicely saving you a fortune not are not cheap .....

Yes there is a difference the way they are fitted is totally different & there is more fixings on the long nose version & from what I can see the crash protection is different aswell.

part nos

this is where it gets complicated as the catalogue shows the short nose in pic but lists 3 different part nos.

The number is 7D0807221 & the final peice of the puzzle is the last letter it is either A,B,C,D or E for with or without fog lights then there are other codes for primed or painted.

So Im afaraid my freind you will have to go the ol fashoined way & look for a part number with the above digits somewhere.

if anyone has a catalogue that will allow us to search by reg then pls let me know.

Thanks for the Replies.

Will there be a Part Number Stamped on my Bumper somewhere easily accessible please?.

Does anyone have a Removal / Fitting guide for the Long Nose T4 Front Bumper if it is quite different from the Short Nosed version please?.

Thanks Again.

Romoval guides are in the How to bodywork section for all types.

I need to edit one or two of them if it says cover then cover is the Bumper.

I dont know where the part number will be you can start by looking underneath & at the back of the bumper while it is on, you will need a torch, pen & paper & start looking @ one side & accross to the other.
You will know when you find it as the vw & audi badg's will stapmed along side, above or below it & will be accompanied by another ste of numbers.

Note the lot & report back & we will tell you which number is the part number - usually the long one.

Does it have fog light's or fog light outlines on the lower part of the bumper.

Again well done the Robster ....... However i reiterate that any DECENT seller should surely know what he/she is selling thus all this would NOT be nessesary

[Note to self must check Rs Bodykits again but im convinced there is NO diofferent one listed surprised ]

I have been underneath my T4 this afternoon trying to find a part number for the front bumper but can't find one.

Yesterday I would have needed a snorkel and goggles to get beneath my T4 it rained that hard.

The one in the link looks very nice.

Are they difficult to remove and fit?.

Thanks

erm not having done a t4 myself so cant comment exactly but if you check the how to for the exact bolt placement & print a copy off it will make life easier.

When working in bodyshops you dant have that benefit & litterally go by feel
so here goes (by feel that is)

ussually screws on both sides into wheel arch's
both sides bumper retainers/bracket
remove grill & lower grill then any bolts
check underneath for more bolts
you should now be there & able to pull bumper off

Some vw's have bolts under headlights & behind indicators hence why you would benefit from printing a copy of picture in how to.
but i dont think these have them.
